We've recently read pieces of news here and there about how the club is trying to cut down spending in order to cope with the tightening economic situation. The topics have varied from relatively small things, like the club photographer not flying to Palma, to dramatic rumours about the possible sale of our best players.

Our club has massive debts, that's common knowledge. What I'm wondering about is that how much do we depend on borrowed money? Three years ago or so I remember Cerezo telling the press that we do not need to sell Torres because of money. To back this statement, he added that Atlético doesn't have problems in getting loans. So, have we been borrowing more money for the day-to-day running of the club? For example, do we take loans in order to pay the players' salaries? If so, do you think that this crisis can seriously damage us? Or, maybe it already has?

This crisis will heavily damage European football and especially the Italian and Spanish league.

Look at Valencia for example. Or our stadium project.

The club is also cutting ending contracts of employees and are not hiring new ones.

In this season budget there are expected transfers income of 20 milllion €. Say goodbye to the squad memebers, maybe we won't see all of them after holidays.

Speaking of the photographer... Angel told me it was the first time in 3 years that he watched an Atletico game on the television. crazy.

As to this subject, It is not going to be that harsh. The club is really hard headed about keeping Aguero, Forlan, Simao, etc... They will however try to sell (with all their might) Seitaridis, the 75% of Reyes, Jurado, Pernia(with less urgency), Luis Garcia (practically impossible to sell right now) and a few others. But the club is actually not bent on selling... Maniche also won´t be offered a renewal anymore...
A few months ago I would have been 100% against a Kun Aguero sale, but now it might not seem to be so bad, especially if we can receive around 50 million....

We could cash in Agüero, but then we need another world-class striker and a fourth forward as well, which we need right now too.

Detail of the expected incoming

I don't see anything in there about buying players though, which means the €20m in is over and above what we spend.

I'm not looking forward to this summer much...

According to Mundo Deportivo, the tight financial situation forces Atletico to rely more on cantera players next season. There will be only 20 or 21 first team squad players on the payroll, all the rest needed will come from the cantera.
